Derwent Juniors at the Junior National Championships

20140706_180416.jpegThis year’s Junior National Champs saw Derwent well represented by our junior members. Will Bonynge, Marsie and Eva Henderson-Hirst, Alex Holmes, Hollie Smith and Struan Caughey all shot over the weekend in pleasant sunny weather at Lilleshall National Sports centre. Alex and Eva represented England for the Home Nations match while Struan shot for Scotland!

On the Saturday Struan shot the highest score of 1285 for the Metric  2 as a member of the Scottish National team. Alex shot Metric 1 (compound) and came 3rd with 1291 shooting for England. Eva was the highest junior lady scoring 1298 for the Metric 3. Hollie came 2nd junior lady , Metric 4, shooting 1408 and Marsie shot the highest junior lady score (compound) with a 1310 for the Metric 1. Eva and Alex were part of the winning team on the day. Well done England!

On the Sunday Struan shot a 1200 for a 2nd place in the Bristol 2 round (recurve). Alex came 3rd with a 1238 (compound). Well done both! Shooting the Hereford round Eva shot a creditable 1086 (recurve) to win and take the title of National Champion!  Marsie put in a 1221 (compound) for the Hereford round to take the title of National champion too! Great stuff girls.

Hollie had a super day too shooting the Bristol 4. She shot a NEW NATIONAL RECORD of 1296 which is a PERFECT score for that distance. Congratulations Hollie.
